The Wacky World of Walter K. Pleuthner

Walter C. Pleuthner was a prolific architect and writer, born in 1885, Buffalo NY, he died in 1970, Scarsdale NY. During his life he was a Student of DuMond and Mora, a member of the Society of Independent Artists, the American Camouflage, Art in the Trades Club, and New York Architectural League.

During his life he designed the Emerson Phonograph galleries, in New York, and Exhibited at the Armory show of 1913; Society of Independent Artists, 1917; and the Pennsylvania Academy off Fine Arts, 1923.

The Antiques Center at Wales in conjunction with Harold E. Cole Antiques and Art will stage a show of Walter Pleuthner’s work, possibly the largest body of his work known. The 300 plus pieces span his entire career. They were acquired by a picker who purchased the package directly from the widow of Walter Pleuthner. The paintings in this collection were purchased directly from that picker at the Woodbury Flea Market about 20-25 years ago.

Starting in the Spring of 2010 the works will begin to be shown. The estimate time of the sale is 2 years. The Spring 2010 (Volume 1) will be the first of 5 to 6 catalogues.
